Anderson Composites Congratulates Ultimate Street Car Association Winners at Pikes Peak

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: City of Industry, CA (July 19, 2018) – Anderson Composites congratulates the winners of Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car Challenge at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado July 7-8. This was the fourth of eight events organized by the Ultimate Street Car Association for 2018. The two-day event featured five segments for the 109 drivers to earn points within their class. Day one consisted of autocross, design and engineering evaluation and road-rally. Day two included a 2-mile road course and a speed stop challenge.

The top five drivers in the GT class all use Anderson components for their Camaro or Mustang. These drivers are: Jonathan Blevins, Eric Sheely, Cliff Elliott, John Grow and Paul Molina. Jonathan Blevins of Chicane 23 and his 2008 Ford Mustang tied with Eric Sheely’s 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE in points. The tie-breaking decision came to the Design and Engineering segment, which nudged Blevins for the class win for the event. Jonathan is also the current points leader to date for the 2018 season. Paul Molina won the autocross segment with his 2017 Shelby GT350R. Paul uses Anderson Composites’ GT350 carbon fiber hood and decklid. He plans to utilize more carbon fiber components to lighten his car to make it even more competitive later in the season. Congratulations to all five drivers.

Jordan Priestley of JDP Motorsports finished third in his GTS class and took 5th place overall in points for the weekend. Jordan drives a 2017 Chevrolet C7 Z06 Corvette featuring an Anderson Composites carbon fiber hood along with other carbon fiber body components. JDP prepped Eric Sheely’s 2018 Camaro and John Grow’s 2014 Camaro and the results speak for themselves.

Anderson Composites is a sponsor of USCA and a presenter for the “Driver’s Choice Award” which is determined by all the participating drivers at the weekend event. The award is a custom-made carbon fiber license plate and frame featuring the Optima, USCA and Anderson logos. The Driver’s Choice Award was given to Tyler Gibson in the GTL class for his 1972 International Scout. Tyler’s Scout features a built, naturally aspirated Small-block Chevy engine that produces 400 rwhp, custom suspension and steering. The body was smoothed over by removing drip rails and flush mounting windows then set on a modified S-10 frame. This was his first Optima event and he enjoyed every minute of it. Congratulations to Tyler for his award!
